FAQs
How do your classes run?
Our classes involve one-on-one real time interactions with native Igbo speakers via Skype, Whatsapp or Zoom. It is a complete class with lesson notes, videos, exercises and one on one interactions.
How do I know which package to sign up for?
The package to sign up for would depend on your proficiency level (Click here to take a quick proficiency test) or your specific needs. The Complete Igbo course is recommended for Beginner and Intermediate level learners. There are also Conversation classes at Beginner and Advanced Levels, and a Learn Igbo in 5 hours course for visitors to Igboland.
Do you teach people outside Nigeria?
Yes!!! Lessons take place online so your location doesn’t matter at all. A large percentage of our learners are based in the USA. We also have learners from the UK and Europe apart from Nigeria.
How much do your classes cost?
The price of classes varies according to the location (online or offline), number of hours being paid for, and package being signed up for. At this time, it costs an average of $15 per hour. Payment can be made for a minimum of 8 hours at a time.
What do you mean by online/offline class?
Online classes take place online as the name implies. Offline classes are physical classes which hold at the learner’s location: home or office. This service is usually available for residents of Lagos Nigeria, especially children or top executives.
What if I prefer an online course to one-on-one learning?
That’s fine. We find that one-on-one learning is most effective in terms of accountability, immediate feedback, full access to a native speaker, etc. However, if you would prefer an online course, then we recommend our audio-visual class option.
What do you mean when you say “learn at your time, pace and convenience”?
Because we are committed to giving you the best, classes are fixed based on your availability. We recognize that most of our clients are busy professionals and we are flexible enough to help them make the most of the hours they have mapped out for learning.
How many days in a week do classes hold?
The number of days/hours is totally dependent on your availability. We recommend a minimum of 3 hours a week. However, if you are only able to commit to 2 hours a week, we can make it work. The key factors here are commitment and consistency.
Do you have a curriculum?
Yes! Our lessons follow a curriculum with modules that become increasingly complex. At the end of each module, there are exercises to help you practice.
Do I get to choose the parts of the curriculum I am most interested in?
No. If you have taken the proficiency test and a package is recommended for you, you will have to do all the modules in the package. All modules are interlinked and important.
I/my partner come from Enugu state. I am aware there are dialects in Igbo language. Would I be taught my dialect?
No. Lessons are taught in Central Igbo (Igbo Izugbe). This is the Standard Igbo understood across Igboland. Consideration may be given to the Onicha Igbo (Anambra dialect) as a largely spoken dialect. If you are a beginner, I strongly recommend you learn Central Igbo.
What if I can’t make a class or resume immediately after payment?
If you cannot resume immediately after payment, please contact us with your possible date of resumption. Your payment remains valid until 6 months after. If you have resumed and are unable to make a class, kindly contact us to cancel or reschedule. This should be done at least 8 hours before the class is scheduled to hold. If the class is not cancelled or rescheduled, it will be marked as attended.
Will I become fluent after the Complete Igbo Course?

Your proficiency will greatly increase!
Will I be able to continue practicing with you after the Complete Igbo Course?
Yes. You can sign up for Conversation Classes, join our closed Facebook Support group and generally be able to ask any of the tutors questions regarding your study at any time.
Do you also teach children online?
Yes, depending on the age of the child, and if there has been a prior meeting offline. At this time, we teach only children 10 years and above online.
